Buying Tips

Prepare a wish list

  • What type of property are you looking for
  • What are your preferred suburbs
  • What are your ‘must haves’
  • What is your budget

Arrange for Finance pre-approval

  • Do not forget to account for the hidden costs when preparing finance
  • Make sure you keep up to date with bank lending policies which may tighten according to economic conditions

Research your preferred suburbs

Attend open homes and auctions and follow up on sale prices in your preferred area to get an understanding of the market prices. An actual inspection of the properties is crucial as not all property particulars, good or bad, are evident on website listings!

Meet an agent

  • Find an agent you are comfortable with
  • Ensure the agent has a reputable history

When looking over homes that you are interested in be sure to

  • Inspect the property personally more than once
  • Have your solicitor or conveyancer review the contract for sale
  • Arrange for a building and pest inspection before negotiations commence
  • Check that your finance approval is still effective
